Dr. Sybille van den Hove
Sibylle van den Hove is director of MEDIAN, a small research teaching and consulting company in Barcelona & Visiting Professor at the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
She has a PhD in ecological economics. Her research focuses on environmental governance; science-policy interfaces; decision-making and policy formation under conditions of complexity; integration of natural and social sciences; environmental research strategies; and environmental strategies of corporations.
Currently Sibylle van den Hove mostly works in the areas of biodiversity governance at EU and international levels, precaution and innovation, nuclear governance in a post-Fukushima world and business sustainability. She is the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency. Sibylle van den Hove is also a member of the EU Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Societal Challenge 5 'Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials'. She chaired the Scientific Advisory Council of the European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy (EDIT) network of excellence until 2010 and, for 6 years, was vice-chair of the steering committee of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS).
